El Hotel “Casino de la Selva”, fue un centro vacacional de singular importancia en Cuernavaca inaugurado en 1930, fue un centro vacacional de referencia, sobre todo hacia la mitad del siglo xx. Varias de sus edificaciones fueron diseñadas por Félix Candela y otros arquitectos del exilio español, muchas de sus salas estaban decoradas con murales de pintores de gran prestigio como José Renau. A partir de los años ochenta este hotel empezó a perder importancia, paulatina- mente fue decayendo hasta que quedó totalmente abandonado. En el año de 2001 el predio fue vendido a la empresa “Costco” como si fuese un baldío, por lo tanto el conjunto fue totalmente destruido para construir un par de tiendas de autoservicio en su lugar, a pesar de las protestas y movilizaciones que se efectuaron en su momento.
